As you are listening to your local Pastor preaching, all of a sudden your tummy goes to grumbling. Perhaps you are thinking about good southern fried chicken, home made mashed potatoes and gravy. How about collard greens and black eyed peas? Well you will just have to wait, and it is well worth the wait.
Enjoy a Sunday afternoon buffet at The Relay Station with a variety of foods. The entrees range from southern fried chicken (mine is almost as good, ha), roast, beef ribs and chicken pot pie. They offer a wide variety of side items as well. You may like, not boxed, but home made mashed potatoes (mine are better, lol), corn, okra and tomatoes, green beans, macaroni and cheese or cabbage. They also offer a variety of salad items and a daily soup. Do not forget about the breads and pudding. The buffet is $7.99 for adults and $2.99 for kids 4-12.
If you are wanting to visit just any given night, you may enjoy a steak. Wait, before you order one, know that my experience with the steaks here have been quite fatty. I do not like the steaks. They were good at one time but have since declined. However, I do like the Philly Cheese Steak. It is loaded with sliced steak, smothered with sauteed onion and green peppers. Then topped with swiss cheese. You have a choice of potato to go with it.
If chicken fried steak is what you are craving, you had better be starving, because this thing is huge! Just put it this way, it will feed you and your boyfriend, leaving no room for dessert. You may even have some left over for Scruffy, ha. You also have a choice of potato.
I will say that the Club Sandwich is my favorite here. It is full of a variety of meats and cheeses served on a hoagie bun, toasted that is. I usually get french fries with it. I craved this when I was pregnant with my youngest child.
They serve home made ice cream and a variety of pies. Located to the right end of the restaurant is an enclosed casino and bar. I will say that they have wonderful margaritas. Well they did about six years ago. Of course because of state law there is no longer any smoking section. They do smoke in the bar. There is a corral as well for large church parties or other groups. If this is someplace you would like to visit, here is the information: 14335 Highway 1, Vivian, LA or call (318) 375-5144.
